17 May Landscaping at community garden
Newspaper article: Captain Green help with landscaping at South Leicestershire community garden at Little Bowden Recreation Ground. Article as published in Harborough Mail 17 May 2012:
Cutting the cake for the Community Garden Project
“The Garden is next to Little Bowden School on the recreation ground and people are being invited to bring along plant cuttings, seeds or bulbs to donate or swap with other gardeners. A celebration cake will be cut and refreshments served.
The project was started by Harborough’s Voluntary Action South Leicestershire. A piece of land was kindly offered by and licensed through Harborough Council and a successful partnership project was formed. A £10,000 Lottery grant was secured and a steering group set-up from local charities, voluntary groups and schools who wanted to use the garden including Little Bowden and Welland Park schools, Self Unlimited Harborough and District MIND and the Welland Centre.
The hard work started in February and took a few weeks to compete as the groundwork had already been done.
